New video! Bayes' theorem, and making probability intuitive. I had fun bringing in some Kahneman and Tversky results to show where human intuition seems to jive with probability, and where it doesn't.

  5. Frequentist statistics makes us so afraid to state things in terms of probabilities because they're never what we expect. When you finally are able to use them, you are always suspicious that you might be saying something wrong when for once you're safe to make them.

  6. I'm doing my second bayesian analysis on the job and I have to say, it's so strange to be able to make probabilistic statements.

  7. Once you let go of the fear of not completing things right away and putting things down when you lose the feeling of being in the right place at the right time you take a lot of pressure off yourself and give yourself the freedom to do what really brings you the most value.

  8. Even returning to the book later, after you have had time to understand and apply earlier concepts helps you to grasp things better.

  9. However, I have found that the 80:20 rule still applies. For instance, reading "Bayesian Methods for Hackers", I have found that the most important information is in the first 3 chapters. You can only read half the book and still come away with a useful new skill.

  10. It's difficult to drop things when you haven't completed it, reading books, doing courses, etc. You fear that there is some information you could still squeeze out.

  11. I have been making it a point to leave some things undone and to stop being such a completionist when something doesn't feel like it's giving me value.

  13. The conclusion of this video literally brought tears to my eyes. Not to be clickbaity, but it's not because I'm so stoked about prime numbers. You won't see it coming.

  14. What is to me? Data science is about discovery. I'm a scientist at heart and I want to know more about the world, and is simply my means to get there.

  16. Finally got around to using 's Jupyter Lab. I actually really like it, it feels much more polished. My only wish -being the incredibly vain person that I am- is that there were more themes!
