Elated to have our paper () out this week , I can't thank , , and enough. I've learned so much over the course of this project -- beyond the science the people we work with is most important

Again, there is absolutely no evidence for either (1) sequence insertions or (2) their relationship to HIV. If you'd like to look at the alignment yourself, I've posted it here: 9/9

Based on the content of my mentions, I feel like I need to further debunk crazy / HIV conspiracy preprint. This is a thread doing so. 1/9

Wow! I can’t even.... Someone (ahem) definitely is struggling but it’s not science!!! It’s like throwing a match into a gas station and whistling Dixie while pointing fingers at everyone else. To be fair, authors of this preprint should be 😳 but they’re not alone

Thank you Eric. I think that bioRxiv has generally been a huge boon to discourse among scientists. I haven’t figured out however how scientific communication best fits into this new preprint world. 1/2

Traditionally universities would wait to put out a press release until peer review has been conducted. But bioRxiv changes this equation. The absolute seriousness of the nCoV situation makes accurate reporting extremely important. 2/2

These short inserts do indeed exist in relative to its closest sequenced relative (BetaCoV/bat/Yunnan/RaTG13/2013, seen here ). However, a simple BLAST of such short sequences shows match to a huge variety of organisms. No reason to conclude HIV.

It's a closed loop of partisan tautology: No Republican can or should vote for impeachment because no Republican is voting for impeachment. When this is used as an argument for why a Republican Senator is voting *even against witnesses,* it strikes at the heart of the system.

Combined modeling of Wuhan incidence with travel cases by et al. A couple things I particularly like here: 1. Data that the model is being fit to is clearly shown 2. R0 and mobility are not treated as constants

Very cool application of PRISM. It’s interesting that seemingly disparate drugs have anti-cancer properties -underscores gaps drugs target and the network of molecular interactions needed for the “cancer state”
