Waited anxiously for those to hit the book shelves every year.

One of my favorite lines in any of the abstracts was in the ‘88 one - “Tony Gwynn in gweat and the Padres are terrible”. And then in one of the Baseball Books Bill predicted our new era of really, really bad teams

In a fit on minimalism, donated all mine to the library sale some years ago. I have since replaced them (at great expense to the management) @billjamesonline - any chance the material from the 1977-81 Abstracts will ever see the light of day again?

I have 84-87. I remember one year he said the great baseball name Spike Owen was wasted on him. Years later he turned out to be a solid player.

I still think about many things he wrote in the early Abstracts, more than the numbers really.
