There are a handful of elected officials fighting to diminish democracy and limit our participation. But that’s not how democracy works. The basis of American democracy is that we pick our leaders—our leaders do not pick their voters.

🧵For democracy to work for all of us, it must include us all. Today, the Senate is voting on SF173—a bill that creates deliberate barriers to the ballot box and causes undue burden for Black, brown, Indigenous, young, elderly, disabled, and new Minnesotans to register to vote.

Minnesota resoundingly defeated in 2012 as it limits the votes of seniors, students, soldiers overseas & more. The is back at it this year, moving Voter ID and provisional ballots, both efforts to limit who can vote. Let’s stop ‘em.
