Would especially love answers that focus on exposing young minds to the social justice issues implications and environmental impacts of land use and transportation!

Urbanist friends! I'm giving advice to a curator, and would love your help: If you could put together an urban planning + infrastructure themed exhibit for a prominent children's museum, what projects + histories would you focus on?

This is a good list but it leaves off “Ban cars / car free streets” Hope someone is looking into effects on escooter/MDS trips on Market St in SF since it went car free last week! (Is anyone looking into it? ? ?)

In 2018, landed in US cities, leading many to complain of “scooter clutter.” But how often are bikes, scooters, & cars parked improperly? Anne Brown, , Nick Williams, & I conducted a study in 5 US cities and found: 🛴+🚲: <1% 🚗: 24%

As an urban planner, I consider myself a student of that elusive, magical concept we call “place”, and let me tell you this Burger King off the highway in Connecticut where all the NYC>>>Boston Chinatown buses stop is one hell of a place.

Very excited to see what the NYC creative technology community can do with this year’s theme: “digital twin” 👯‍♀️♊️ (and hopeful that at least one artist’s submission takes on the “evil twin” trope)

*its Also, credit where credit is due: this idea at least in part inspired by 's "find your place" subway ad campaign:

I feel like 's mobility explorer used to come close with it's isochrones view, but I feel like this is such a common use case/social dilemma (especially whenever I'm in NYC or other big cities) that maybe someone has built this specifically?

Does there exist an app/website whereby I can (1) input [address 1] ("I am here") and then also (2) input [address 2] ("my friend is here") and it will return for me the most convenient/equitable neighborhood or even transit stop in our city for us to meet up at?

"Reduce automobile dependency" wasn't an option in the list of priorities, but you can still say it in the comments.

My dog Panda knocked over a stuffed animal on his way up the stairs and after getting startled by the sudden movement, he now, like many water-type Pokémon, is terrified of Pikachu.

“I have 100 people in my office who use GIS, but the rest of the transpo world isn’t using GIS, they are building with GeoJSON APIs and python...If we want to enable collaboration & things like dynamic pricing, cities need to speak the language of APIs” -

I always go back to this when I hear speakers talk about data "ownership". It's often not the right framing, which certainly seems relevant to this panel discussion at on PII, MDS, who should have access, etc.

Anyone here know more about the microeconomics of all this? Is the Bird ride less subsidized? Is congestion pricing the answer?
