    What's green and gold and moves on two wheels? It's the Sheriff's Bicycle Patrol Unit! Deputies on bikes can easily be flagged down to help people in need and can freely interact with community members. Keep an eye out & say "hello!" the next time you see us at an outdoor event!

    Det. Conrad Feierabend, pictured here, founded the Sheriff's Crime Lab in 1968. This photo shows him comparing fingerprints using a magnifying glass and a court exhibit of a shoe print from a crime scene. The lab helped boost crime solving with focused analysis of evidence.

    Our K9 Unit works hard every day to keep our community safe. In 2020, the unit was deployed 263 times. They made 302 searches and 47 arrests and seized more than 1,200 grams of illegal substances. Talk about the ultimutt team!

    Don't trash San Luis Obispo County! Someone dumped trash at the entrance to Los Padres National Forest at Redhill Rd and Hwy. 58. Someone spotted the culprit and called it in. A Deputy caught the suspect and cited him for illegal dumping. Thanks for your help SLO County!
