    Congratulations to the new group of Fellows! Long-term funding through the Hanna Gray program for my postdoc and now soon my own lab has allowed me to pursue my interests in transcriptional regulation in Alzheimer’s disease.

    Silvana Konermann ( ) has accepted our offer to join the department as an assistant professor! Currently she is a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute and a HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellow. She will begin at Stanford in October 2019. Welcome, Silvana!

    Yes, I didn't fully appreciate this until recently. For instance, you can go back to Lande in 1981 ( ) and find him saying that the number of genes underlying a trait "is typically estimated to be about 5 or 10, with occasional values up to 20. "

    So interesting to see how neurotransmitters are repurposed for very distinct functions in distinct brain circuits. Congrats! Reminds me of reuse of key cell signaling pathway for distinct functions during distinct stages in development.
