yes, its about consent. obviously babies cant consent to hugs and kisses and food, the line is draw at things that are permanent, and if that thing is also destructive, you need a real good reason to do it. labeling it "useless" when many adults disagree means leave it alone.

Life saving surgeries are also permanent and generally cut off or take out a body part. As long as the procedure safe and comes with it's own benefit, while not changing your pleasure, that's good reason. Many adults say vaccines causes autism, we call them ignorant.

Many adults say Circumcision has lots of benefits and is harmless, we call them ignorant. (Regarding the procedure done on babies).

Many adults say that circumcision is somehow harmful and makes males lose functions, we call them ignorant.

It is harmful in the way the newborn has no say and it is unethical in that sense.

Newborn also have no say in vaccination or anything for that matter. Are yoh really arguing for child consent, when all babies/kids have their lives decided by someone else.

Tell me how vaccination, which is mostly recommended by all doctors, is similar to circumcision which removes permanently a part of the body.

Because if child consent is your actual argument, then vaccination would be bad. But a child consent have no bearings after all.

Again, tell me how similar both situations really are. Did I say that consent should be acquired for every decisions a parent makes ? No, of course not, we're talking about circumcision specifically.

Circumcision risks are very low, with high benefits. Change nothing of tbe sex lives for the males, loses no function, and a safe procedure. So I see no problem in circumcision.

High benefits ? If the benefits were as high, doctors would recommend it as much as vaccines but oh wait, they actually don't recommend circumcision as a medically worthy procedure.

The American Academy of Pediatrics say the benefits are not great enough to recommend it to be done on all new born boys. It comes down to beliefs, religious choices or social constructs (I don't think any of these are good reasons).
