I won’t even comment on my stipend after taxes. Most people don’t understand the hours we spend in preparation to be as competitive as possible. The payoff? Having my kids thank me for their growth as young men, inviting me to their college graduations etc

When you look at the HUNDREDS of hours coaches put in (spring, summer and reg season). Plus we often pay for things out of pocket. Then when we get our stipend, it’s absolutely insulting. You definitely don’t get into coaching hs sports for money. But something has to be done!

  9. Depends on your situation. Not everyone has a job that provides them the financial freedom and time it takes to not care what they get paid just because they love it. Again, this is why you see coaches leaving but keeping their teaching jobs.

Some make less, some more , but barely. Other sports are way less too, some that are same if not more time commitment

  11. I don't know how a walk-on coach manages a football team on $4,000 a year. So grossly underpaid. Almost feels illegal considering how many hours they have to spend year around to have a chance to be successful.

For all of the amazing athletes Pasadena has produced, I think the "Blair Pair" might be the very best (outside of Jackie Robinson, of course). Anyone older with more perspective, I would love to hear your thoughts.
