I'm actually for restorative justice, believe it or not, but restorative justice THAT WORKS and is also rehabilitative. I'm also into justice for the victims. What we have now is a watered-down, bastardized version of RJ that is neither restorative, rehabilitative, nor just.

@StephenMPinto , The@SF_DPH , has instructed@chesaboudin to release another 27% of those incarcerated in response to pandemic. 235/835 for a maximum of 600 held, if you disagree with how Chesa is doing so now, how would you address their release?pic.twitter.com/e13dnFnTES

@SF_DPH doesn't actually have the authority to instruct@chesaboudin to do anything. Reducing the prison population shouldn't be done at the expense of the safety of law-abiding citizens. Violent criminals should not be released just to hit an arbitrary number.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

And we shouldn't have 5% of the population and 25% of the prisoners. Yet hear we are, and maybe that arbitrary line isn't perfect but what we've been doing is far from it.pic.twitter.com/ad9BPbn8DD

Here are the facts: 1) A known violent criminal was released arbitrarily by Chesa's office to hit a quota. 2) That felon robbed a presumably already struggling business and killed 2 innocent citizens while fleeing. Who is at fault here - Chesa or DPH? We are owed accountability.

We have said for months now that releasing known violent criminals will endanger the public. Now 2 women are dead. Reducing our prisoner population shouldn't be done at the expense of public safety. Period. Yes, even to solve your "existential threat" talking point.

How is the epidemiological crisis not a threat to the public? We can see the loss of life elsewhere and know not to embrace it here.https://twitter.com/SandhyaKaj/status/1344791478481072130?s=20 …
Paul added,
Sandhya Kajeepeta @SandhyaKajNYC officials learned nothing from the spring. Jail populations are almost back to pre-pandemic levels. More people are held pre-trial now than pre-pandemic. Dorms are crowding & most people aren't being tested. This will only lead to more preventable disease and death Thread

And now known criminals roaming the streets committing violent crimes that result in the loss of innocent life are a threat to the public too. Reducing prison population shouldn't be done at the expense of public safety. Period. Full stop. There is no argument.
