Just spoke briefly with a cop from @SFPDNorthern.
Incredibly thoughtful man.
He said some burglars have been caught 8+ times yet are back on the street. Said, "what are we waiting for? Somebody to get hurt?"
Neighbors - get video cameras. PD needs footage to solve crime.

What consequences do you propose for the man who was just caught for the 14th time this year in a stolen vehicle? Clearly whatever "consequences" he's faced haven't deterred him, and he's probably gotten away with a number of heists as well.

Correction: it's now his 15th time caught in 18 months. Can we actually lock him up? This guy is flagrantly and unapologetically laughing in our faces and exposing what a joke the "justice system" in San Francisco is.https://twitter.com/SFPDTenderloin/status/1340877753743118338 …

Addressing this point here, your comment here is that the consequences aren't deterring crime. Just a question, despite being pervasive, prohibitively expensive, and epedimiologically risky, has Incarceration anywhere effectively deterred crime(especially drug use?)?

1/x What I mean here is that every day there's another of the same repetitive story. To name a few: - Dealer arrested 4th time on same block with money, drugs, and weapons. - Dealer ignores stay away order. - Man arrested for the 15th time in 18 months for motor vehicle theft.
