The article regarding the San Francisco Reparations Committee proposal was in such poor taste. Reads more like a tabloid than journalism and frankly opened up an opportunity to attack a black man in leadership. Here is actual info on the topic

Not strange in a capitalist society that some prioritize housing for the rich & trickle down housing theory. Strange is when those same folks claim to be champions of housing justice & try to attack tenant activists, socialists, etc from the left and expect to be taken seriously.

Of course, SFPD gets a shout-out in the column about out-of-control policing. The problem is strong police unions and weak Democratic politicians. Mayor Breed gave the police union massive raises and overtime last year, after numerous cops arrested, scandals, killing a victim.

Watch for "cops save baby ducks" stories in the next few months. Media collaborates with police to produce these puff pieces after every police brutality incident. Literally every dept does these after police killings, it's amazing. Thread

If your first reaction to the draft Reparations Plan is “we can’t possibly do that” instead of “this really lays out how pervasive anti-blackness is in our society & what it would take to repair harms,” I’d respectfully suggest taking a moment to reflect.

Was just looking: In the 177 days since Chesa Boudin was recalled (through the end of last month): Property crime in San Francisco is UP about 14% compared to the 912 days that Chesa was in office.

We're frustrated by disingenuous yimbys using strawmen to distract from SF mayor blocking affordable housing on sites that have already been identified for it with $ that has already been allocated for it If you thought they actually wanted housing for everyone well now you know

I’m frustrated by San Francisco politicos deciding that opposing market rate housing is more important than building affordable housing. That has to stop!

SFPD used "the word “marijuana” in 269 unsuccessful searches of Black people, compared to 38 mentions for white people, despite the fact that Black people make up just 5% of the city’s population and white people make up 51%." Over legal weed.

if you're bending over backwards rn to defend the mayor's position against affordable housing being built on sites that have been identified for it, you are not 'pro-housing' full stop

Why is the entire online YIMBY apparatus, including SF YIMBY, GrowSF, SFHAC, TogetherSF, etc, either silent or 100% supportive of the Mayor blocking affordable housing at 400 Divis? Is there not a shred of intellectual integrity or interest in building affordable homes?

Still waiting for all the 'pro-housing' people involved in to say something - anything - about the Mayor's unwillingness to use the resources at her disposal to build affordable housing for workers and families.

Mayor Breed may be sued for homeless sweeps, one during the cyclone-bomb storm. Breed was partying on New Year's Eve with wealthy donors in Napa and then jetting off to watch the Niners in a private box, safe from the elements.

Mayor is blocking affordable housing at 400 Divisadero and other sites. Seven months after Mayor & BOS reached an historic $112m affordable housing deal, Mayor’s office is reneging on commitments and jeopardizing affordable projects. This is ridiculous.

When Mayor London Breed promises to "make life hell" for the poor and undesirables, actions like the hose attack should shock no one.

The narrative that homeless people’s personal failings led to their state of despair have made it easy to dehumanize them. Why treat them as people, many seem to think, when they are such an incredible nuisance? New, for @sfchronicle: sfchronicle.com/opinion/articl

Fantastic article from calling out the dehumanization of homeless people (spoiler: they are people), violence against them from people who have come to see them as an inhuman nuisance, and San Francisco's abject failure to house the homeless.

This morning, a coalition of activists and politicians called on the Police Commission to ban the enforcement of nine "pretext stops." The policy is set to be voted upon in tonight's police commission meeting, starting at 5:30 p.m.

I don‘t how any SF pol or city official can look out their window at this horrific storm and think that now’s the time to steal homeless people’s belongings and leave them out to get sick or die. you have to have a deep rot in your soul that no amount of therapy can heal

BREAKING: The City of SF has violated the preliminary injunction order in our lawsuit against @sfgov by carrying out unlawful sweeps & criminalizing unhoused people. @sfgov even carried out a sweep the day the bomb cyclone devastated the City. sfgate.com/news/article/s

At most jobs, if you dip out during an emergency and then respond to criticism of that by yelling at people with a lie that you weren't told about it, it wouldn't be received well. Why does continue to get a pass?
