Red light cameras are an important step towards creating safer streets for all. That’s why I am thrilled these cameras are being installed at the intersections of Presidio & Masonic and Franklin & Lombard—but these two locations are nowhere near enough.https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/transit-officials-push-for-more-red-light-cameras/?utm_source=The+Examiner+E-dition&utm_campaign=2a923e53cb-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_01_22_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e2b97b1e7f-2a923e53cb-260817097 …

If we can do this why can’t we push for more public safety surveillance cameras? If our current leaders want to defund
@SFPD while crime is on the rise what other options do we have?1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -
Are those prohibited in any way now...?

Prohibited no...but probably makes getting a building permit look easy. Aaron Peskin led the charge last year with a ban on facial recognition and added regulation/hurdles to any agency seeking surveillance technology.https://techcrunch.com/2019/05/14/san-francisco-facial-recognition-ban/#:~:text=San%20Francisco%20passes%20city%20government%20ban%20on%20facial%20recognition%20tech,-Taylor%20Hatmaker%40tayhatmaker&text=The%20Stop%20Secret%20Surveillance%20Ordinance,for%20a%20municipality%20in%20California …

And
@chesaboudin has done what he can to further help criminals by doing away with the ability for citizens to register private cameras with SF law enforcement. Here’s a hint...he got away with the page. Peep the url. https://sfdistrictattorney.org/register-your-camera …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

All we advocate for is talk the talk and walk the walk. If we are truly the tech capital of the world then why is Dallas, TX leading the way?https://www.wfaa.com/mobile/article/news/local/dallas-police-department-launches-new-surveillance-camera-program-in-crime-hot-spots/287-7ac7a10b-ba7a-4e04-95ea-857d8aaa08ae …

The answer could be because we allow groups like @ACLU to intimidate and dictate our agenda from afar while crime surges for normal citizens with no end or solution in sight.https://www.aclunc.org/news/activists-sue-san-francisco-wide-ranging-surveillance-black-led-protests-against-police …
