I was horrified to learn of another mass shooting — leaving 7 victims dead — this afternoon in Half Moon Bay, a community just south of San Francisco.
There has been more than one mass shooting per day in 2023. This level of gun violence is unacceptable & we must demand action.

The has made tremendous strides. We created a Vulnerable Victims Unit & our Victim Services Division is broadening its reach by engaging w/ more communities in SF, and developing culturally responsive, trauma informed services for our victims & communities.

Since I took office, we were presented w/ 428 drug dealing cases by , up from 257 in the same time period the previous year. We filed charges in 379 of those cases, almost 2x the previous year. & are now working together in the pursuit of public safety.

5/ Between 7/8/22–12/29/22, we filed 379 felony narcotics sales cases & sought pre-trial detention in 14. In one case, the amount of fentanyl seized could have killed ~2 million people. The court granted 4 motions to detain & denied 7. In 3 instances, the court imposed bail.

4/ Both Ramos-Aguilar & Artiaga-Colindrez have been in custody since they were arrested. Prosecutors sought pre-trial detention in each of these cases because of the extreme public safety risk each individual poses.
