      All our efforts are focused on resolving the electrical issues right now- apologies for all the trouble. We're working on it.

      .@SFBART how much does one need to apologize before one realizes they truly offer a terrible service and should no longer apologize?

      .@SFBART we've come to expect rush-hour equipment problems and train delays from you. what you're saying is that today ends with '-day'

      @shakatron BART was built to transport far fewer people, and much of our system has reached the end of its useful life. This is our reality.

      @SFBART @shakatron bloody hell, you had over 20 years to plan for crowds. Get it together. #projectplanning #BART #Fails #Again #Excuses

      @tquad64 Planners in 1996 had no way of predicting the tech boom - track redundancy, new tunnels & transbay tubes are decades-long projects.

          @SFBART sure but now we all see the problems clearly. We need add'l tracks and late night hours on weekends! When does work start?

          @EliPollak @SFBART - The theory around not having late hours is to avoid having bad folks travel into the city at odd hours of the night.

          @ladyfox14 Bad theory - overnight hrs are the only time we can do maintenance without disrupting service. BART wasn't built w/ extra tracks.

          @SFBART - Ah, yes. I forgot about the late night maintenance hours. Hopefully, if more tracks are built, this will remedy the situation. :)

          @ladyfox14 It's one of our greatest challenges - but our engineers are really, really smart. We'll find a way.

          @SFBART If your engineers are so smart why aren't your train wheels tapered, obviating the need for late night track grinding? @ladyfox14

          @SFBART Not significantly and you know it. What a sad story: "After 43 years we decided to kinda-sorta do something about it"

          @SFBART @tquad64 but perhaps in planners in 2000? 2001? 2002? 2003? 2004? 2005? 2006? 2007? 2008? 2009? 2010? 2011? 2012? 2013? 2014? 2015?

          @scottopia Government planning is complex, and funding even more so. It's not that simple. We saw things coming, and are doing our best.

          @SFBART Didn't all the housing being built in the East Bay over the past 50 years clue anyone into the need to expand the system?

          @tnashw Transit funding is the furthest thing from simple. If there had been funds to improve and double BART capacity, we would've done it.

          @SFBART So how much money did BART receive from the Mission Bay development fees? I'm guessing not enough to cover all the new commuters.

          @SFBART @tquad64 And by 1999 it was a frenzy. In 2002 lines were around the block for new condos yet to be built. Who fell asleep?
