I can't claim to know this as a fact but I can't see how spectrometry can detect or measure something that is unknown to us. But then I'm not the scientist, just an interested individual viewing life as a continuing education in and of itself I'd like to know this too.

How do we know for certain it’s not part of our solar system? Isn’t it possible it could have a highly eccentric orbit????
