Robert Hall has been on fieldwork to Sabah, northern Borneo with Vasilis Tsikouras and Eleonora Augustine from the University Brunei Darussalam. Mount Kinabalu poking up through the clouds is always an impressive thing to see.

What a fantastic time on Natuna Island! The island's geology has something for everyone in such a small area! A massive thanks to Mas Ferdi and Roni for making it possible! Now to the lab!

Sand injectites cutting perpendicular to Miocene deltaic sediments on the bank of the Ayerwaddy (the flowers for scale were borrowed from a bride). You can follow them for ~ 20 m before they disappear under the river.

This is important! Earth sciences, geology, etc. are critical fields for establishing sustainable, renewable, environmental resources that are key to the transition! If you want to actively change the future of this planet studying geology is a good place to start!

Day 6 on Natuna Island and I'm pleased to announce our first proper metamorphic rock!! 😍 Hornfelsed meta-sediments that have likely been baked by the nearby Ranai Granite! These metamorphics are totally new to the map!
