Where can I find these rattlesnakes?
Hiking in @SDSORural trails? Generally not aggressive, rattlesnakes strike when touched, threatened or deliberately provoked. Give them room and they’ll retreat. He's being cool, letting you know he sees you but he'll keep moving as long as you leave him alone. My grandfather used to catch the rattlesnakes with territory around the house and keep them over the summer in 50 gallon drums and then release them in the winter.
