The headline doesn’t match the opinion piece which, in summary, says - “The government now needs to give the people of Hong Kong a reason to support an alternative to violence.”

Agree. Most Hong Kong people are principled but pragmatic. It's a shame that the distrust in the government has taken root and the authorities keep aggravating the situation with the anti mask law and police brutality.

Agree. #CarrieLam is the very last resort before a vigorous central administration's intervention and #agitators will end up in some deserved goulag. #HongKongpic.twitter.com/EMchaxheK9

When protestors take to the streets to defend ‘One Country Two Systems’ they’re effectively doing battle in defense of Hong Kong’s free market economy; the very economy responsible for their feelings of despair. They & many others have been let down by Hong Kong’s free market.

What authoritarian China fails to understand is that the people should side with government, but the government should side with people.

Disagree. The protest will end if Carrie Lam listens to the people.

"gov must take positive action to realign public opinion" Carrie Lam is never wrong, so as the Hong Kong Police. So they will do what they do best hand-in-hand, beat the shit out of you

That's an odd statement. Where do you see HKers taking chances with the mob? Mob has a life of its own, and the majority of HKers are terrified of them. Try to take a video of them and they'll beat you to death.
