Simply put - those who don’t have assets protesting against those with assets. Protestors want to drag down the economy because the only way to narrow the wealth gap is by dragging the high end lower. Ironically, at the end of the day, I think Communism is what they need.

One-country-two-systems means that Hong Kong keeps its capitalist system because Hong Kong was capitalist prior to 1997. Hong Kong never had a democratic system prior to 1991. Now the protest really destroys the two-systems arrangement as the capitalist Hong Kong is falling.
