Backing for what? Do they really know what they want, or just be abetted and then follow the mob?

Has anyone ever read Gustave Le Bon’s book “The Crowd”? When you are one of a group of people, you are more irritable, impulsive, unable to reason or judge. That’s what I see from this.

Probably more than half of the visitors are mainland- most likely they fully disagree w the rioters- very dangerous situation- hope airport security has the manpower to handle it

International backing? By sending troops to HK or stopping treating it as an entity distinct from the mainland? Or pressuring China by holding a gun to its head? If their demands could be met this way, HK would have remained a colony many guys WISH it to be.

that a Chinese speaker states about protesters "they do not understand the meaning of freedom", hmmm, I would really like to be enlightened about "her/his" *meaning* of freedom. I don't mean disrespect but it sounds like a speech learned from the principal of a elementary school

Maybe a little naive, but to me it means I can do anything I want as long as it’s legal or it does no harm to other people’s freedom. I’m happy with mine, even if it may be dissimilar to yours. (I’m afraid there’re many factors, like culture at play.
