There are a lot of things HK did well economically, esp. for growth and innovation ...but its lack of strong social democracy and help for the poor surely aren't it. Is there ANYONE in the legislature or government of HK that "gives a shit" about the city's poorer residents

that are at least *fighting on behalf of* them in terms of access to things wealthier residents 'take for granted', like affordable housing (rather than *fucking CAGES* to live in)??

Or are far too many of the people running HK's government still 'addicted' to the idea of "positive noninterventionism" in the economy to the point where 100s of thousands, if not a few million, of its own residents, are being 'squeezed out' of a decent living?

But... isn't positive noninterventionism, really, just another phrase for "laissez-faire", in the end, which the West tried for a while... but, shortly thereafter, realized just doesn't work and became much more of a mixed econ.?

Then again, as concerns the government, isn't it true- from what I've heard, at least- that a shitload of the people in HK's legislature are practically "propped up and supported mainly" *by* various industries and sectors, rather than 'the people' themselves?
