If you read some of the comments regarding the people of Discovery Bay, they were not using it as a term of endearment. It was full of negative, hostile racial tones, I was rather shocked how much hatred there is for westerners in HK...

I never felt it as racist.

Interesting argument... Most of the Westerners who live in HK for some time I met, they will also call themselves gweilo or gweipo. It's true for some people, it may be offensive so I don't usually say it to Westerners unless they bring this up by themselves.

I think the world would be a better place when we respect each other and remove these racial slurs.I do not think it is nice to call anyone fei chai either. Would anyone go and say Fei Chai to Tung Chee Hwa on his face? Would anyone go and say "Gweilo" on Allen Zeman on his face?
