catching up with yesterday's GSL and I'm wondering why Rogue, surely a top 10 player of all time never got the popularity that goes with it

I would agree with the lack of shomanship but look at innovation, he has always shown the emotional range of a toaster but he's a fan favorite because of how well he plays, why can't it be the same for Rogue?
Lack of showmanship? Rogue? He had plenty of moments of showmanship, I'd argue on the same level as DRG. All his proxy hatcheries and the "sexy boy" thing, he probably has more casual fans than we assume

I would never compare Rogue to DRG. The things you listed were essentially all of what Rogue did for "showmanship". DRG did far more than that.

Maybe it's because StarCraft had a more mainstream status when DRG was competing but he sticks out much better than Rogue when it comes to that aspect. I understand it's a subjective take, but I'd say DRG has him beat.
