They need to do a better job getting this specific message out. I had no idea the percentage disparity. I’m on their side now.

50% of 25million only leaves the league 12.5 million leftover for overhead. They don’t even generate enough revenue now to stay afloat without the nba. NBA can afford 50% because they still have 3.7 BILLION left over after revenue is cut in half.

Percentage of revenue needs to be lower. The operating costs (rent, staffing, etc) to run a WNBA team, while not the same as an NBA team, would be a much higher percentage of the overall revenue than their counterparts in the NBA. Higher risk for smaller dollars for the owners.

How does this make any sense? Aren't they getting 12 million a year in the TV rights deal? there are 12 teams? One million per team and in 2016 they said 12 of the teams aren't making profit? Where would the money coming from?
-
The tv deal doubled last year. Players got ZERO of that new money

Two problems: 1. Operating expenses have to be met, so with a league generating less revenue, you will get a smaller %. 2. It is the responsibility of the players association to work these things out. Improve the revenue and the other items will fall into place. Best of luck.

NBA players get a higher % of revenue because the league makes a profit. Is the WNBA in the black or red?
