You haven’t explained the question you want asked that you think hasn’t been adequately answered. Start there. Because a study of that design isn’t always indicated, necessary, or possible due to logistical or ethical reasons.

We just assumed they were safe in the beginning. Now we just compare old vaccines to new vaccines and when they are equally safe (or damaging) we just say they are safe because it’s the same as the original

This conversations always seem to remain quite vague, I notice. It’s difficult to argue against vague proclamations. What vaccine do you feel is/was just assumed to be safe? Either in use now, or used as a control in all the research used to support a current vaccine?

And this is interesting. The original polio vaccine study, perhaps the largest study ever, used a " simple salt solution" as a placebo. I learned something today. http://www.medicine.mcgill.ca/epidemiology/hanley/c622/salk_trial.pdf …

Its sad reading about the failed HIV vaccine study while reading about saline studies. Yet, if we all lied about vaccines and it was all a cover-up, why was the failure of that vaccine so public? Why does no one suggest it?

And the first rotavirus vaccine showed exactly how the monitoring works wonders. Now we have a great second rotavirus vaccine that prevents infectious diarrhea hospitalizations and may have other positive effects. The process works.Transparency in #PublicHealth & #VaccineScience

Vaccines can now be said to prevent cancer, diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, Guillain-Barré syndrome, SSPE, infertility, deafness, cognitive impairment, and death. Also infections.

Many infections, like influenza for example, are associated with GBS. Prevent infection = less risk of GBS.
