5) (As an aside: when I talk about pandemic prevention, I really do mean *prevention*. We should be working to stop the next pandemic *before* it happens, not imposing restrictive mandates for this one.)

FWIW I think that the much bigger worry is dual-use research some if it is *wildly* dangerous

I agree with that statement—I'd also add that fear and division have never been a net positive for either science or society. I often consider how much farther we could be into advanced areas of science had the 'old boys' orthodoxy not shunned ideas like those of David Bohm.
