I agree with you I'd say same for corporations who complain about free open-source software/libraries etc while never donating but earning millions But.... Will Twitter stop data mining & showing adds if we own a blue checkmark? They could charge me more if that's optional

Doing this would break their model. Twitter already pulls in some $5 bil annual revenue. That number is already rapidly decreasing, but Musk bought/leveraged at a price that requires him to *increase* it. Without selling user data, Twitter becomes a money pit.
