With respect, I am not here to make the "bull case for blockchain." I've done nothing of the sort during our discussion. I am here to remind the industry of the *moral/philosophic principle* on which this industry exists: that money should be separated from state.

sorry, my phrasing was lazy -- I wasn't trying to refer to prices or to imply that it was stronger than what you thought--just that, in e.g. DC, people would generally interpret what you say as "one of the most pro-blockchain beliefs" Which is good! Someone has to express it.

If I may be pedantic... even that phrasing is missing the mark. What I'm conveying isn't advocacy of a technology for tech sake. It's not "pro-blockchain." It's about the *principles* enabled by such technology. Pro-liberty Pro-crypto Pro-market These would be better choices.

You may be right about the distorted perspective from DC Perhaps an appeal to liberty can't even register in such a place... but that says more about DC than about the appeal.

oh I agree! But I think you can change *more*, sometimes, if you make *weaker* claims (Again, maybe I'm wrong about that! But I don't think the change you make is monotonic in how much you ask for.)

Erik’s arguments boil down to pure and uncompromising idealism. But uncompromising idealism is not a compelling position outside of hero novels. Sam is the quintessential pragmatist. Crypto needs both internally but we don’t want the uncompromising person in Washington

Pragmatically there is no difference between centrally hosted code which you download and run in your browser vs centrally hosted code on github you download and run on PC, vs centrally hosted code you download as an app on your phone and run locally

My heart and my 25-year old self agrees with Voorhees. But my 43-year old brain knows SBF’s approach is better. Revolution tends to go down easier when couched in less revolutionary language. But the window is small before reps have entrenched. Fast and smooth is the way.
