By asking Sam to choose between freedom of speech and email regulation, Erik is setting him up for a difficult debate. Sam does not want to appear to be against freedom of speech, but he also doesn't want to argue in favor of email regulation.

This is a difficult position to be in, and Erik knows this. He has experience with debating and prepared himself. The manipulation is an art in itself, I give him that. By putting Sam in this difficult position, Erik can control the debate better & tilt the debate in his favor

yeah CT is thinking this was a wrestling competition totally missing the point. I did not see anyone 'trying to win a debate' Just 2 dudes genuinely trying to put out their observations and concerns with different perspectives which people may/may not agree with.
