By asking Sam to choose between freedom of speech and email regulation, Erik is setting him up for a difficult debate. Sam does not want to appear to be against freedom of speech, but he also doesn't want to argue in favor of email regulation.

This is a difficult position to be in, and Erik knows this. He has experience with debating and prepared himself. The manipulation is an art in itself, I give him that. By putting Sam in this difficult position, Erik can control the debate better & tilt the debate in his favor

eh once we're viewing it as a 'debate' where our goal is to 'win' we've already lost we're in this community together I think it would be actively bad for me to approach this with the goal of 'winning'. I want what's best for the industry, as does Erik.
