I hear you! Hopefully you're right--hopefully we can end up in the perfect place regulatorily, and/or that taking an absolutist stance is the right negotiating tactic. It wouldn't be my guess, but maybe I'm wrong. We'll see!

Sam, no one is suggesting an “absolutist” stance is the right way to negotiate, nor did anyone ask you to step aside. We just want you to hear the feedback (which you solicited) and fight for a stance we can all get behind! Why can’t custody be the regulatory line you fight for?

it is very much a cop out to say “if you don’t like my way [which kills defi], I’m giving up entirely.” you either care about the industry as a whole or you don’t. you were given constructive feedback, it’s on you to take that on the chin and move forward with the task at hand.
