re: devs writing code, i don’t see why anyone should ask permission from the government to exercise a right that is already theirs

Right now devs can’t write code in the US without fear of requiring a license they couldn’t possibly get, and you can’t launch a token without fear of prosecution for not completing a registration no one could complete. If the industry argues for no regs this is what we get.

i agree that there’s a climate of fear. but the solution to that isn’t to give up and say “actually we have no rights”

the claims that lead US devs to being fearful of retribution for speech are illegitimate. they are an undue prior restraint, and therefore illegal. they should be rejected at face value and not ceded to + licensed
