The vast majority of statistics that I see quoted are useless.
The times when stats are more likely to be useful are when they are answering a very specific, intentional question.

I assume because the majority of the quoted stats you see are within the twitter bubble, where self-anointed experts are trying to justify whatever narrative they’re pushing. Gut/instinct/intuition can be useless too, same as poorly used stats.
