I think a big question here: how do you sustainably create an in-game ecosystem where people can *make* real money? What are other players paying them for? The answer, maybe: if people value in-game success, they can "hire" other players by buying their in-game items etc.

Create a new ecosystem altogether? Think of it as how composability flows. Analogy: would be how ERC-20 tokens & new paradigm that spawned #DeFi as a result. In your scenario "hire" other players by buying their in-game items etc - You're now successfully spawning new innovation!

This may occur naturally once VR has advanced considerably imagine a Runescape-esque world, but where we can all hook ourselves in and actually experience it a fantasy world that is ubiquitously appealing... you may see some value the currency there on par with real world money
