OK so honestly I'm a bit confused.
What exactly is the gain from banning crypto _mining_ in your country?
My instinct is that if anything it just gives you _less_ control over the industry.

If they can't have full control, they don't want even want to entertain it. Threat to yuan.

Probably banning “individuals” so that it can be mined and controlled by the nation state

To meet other political agendas that are key talking points in your platform and leverage points on international trade, as well as just to lower the overall visibility of external crypto to later push CBDC etc

They want control over money and value transfer. This starts with their own cbdc and flows from there

Protect your own currency from it, so you can control your own affairs and people

It all comes down to control. Ban Bitcoin trading and it makes logical sense to ban the next and “only” other method of owning Bitcoin - mining.
Although clearly they didn’t think things through.

Part of me thinks that the US government made a deal with China.
Why else would people be sending some miners to the US? Surely it’s not the most efficient?
