Googles revenue / cost per impression ~= 2m things per second. My guess is that’s basically 50% of human events per second.

basically googled around for things like Twitter likes/second, Facebook likes/second, NYSE trades/second, etc.
another way to ballpark this: if it's a B2C business, and you have 1B users, that's 10k user-days/second. So if the avg user interacts ~10x/day --> 100k TPS.

Would smart contract complexity impact these numbers, say a call option required more lines of code than a buy and execution time is longer? Similar to what we see in Ethereum with different gas prices depending on transaction complexity?
