This sounds cool, but... why? Is this not determined at the protocol level, or will these comprise different lending pools with different standards?

my guess is that, roughly, when an account gets below maintenance margin, anyone can liquidate them on-chain and take over the position

Interesting. At some point there would have to be an automated process though, since there won't always necessarily be a motivated counter-party, particularly on drastic moves where capital is best allocated elsewhere

We have a liquidator running that will soon be open-source; additional bots increases robustness in case one goes down and democratizes the liquidator function, which can be profitable.
