Man all this harping on for being down for a few hours is gross. As if Eth never went down (Sept 2016 anyone?!). Systems, not to mention public blockchains, are hard. Show some respect. Kudos to the solana team and validators for a quick reboot!

No one ever said that Ethereum never went down and people will rightfully make fun of it when/if it does again for some reason.
Though, Solana isn't a blockchain - it's a centralized database and its token is akin to AWS credits.

The difference is the "ETH haters" are objectively wrong based on verifiable facts.
I am not wrong in calling Solana centralized - it 100% is as evidenced by today's outage.
Solana is akin to EOS - both projects are net negatives for the world and I will fight against them.

It appears like there was a bug in their consensus algo. That doesn't mean they're centralized. Liveness is hard. Have you ever engineered a consensus protocol? It's hard work. Some of us know from experience.
Solana and EOS are worlds apart. I'm sorry for whoever hurt you ...

It doesn't matter - if a node going offline can halt the network then this could happen due to maliciousness or government action - it doesn't have to be the result of a bug.
How are they worlds apart? Both require supernodes to run and devolve into cartels because of this.

wait to be clear is your claim that "a node went offline" and this is what caused the downtime?
that's...... not what happened?
