He is implying that it's wash trading. "Forgot to turn on the bots" = forgot to resume wash trading (and also implying that it was resumed 6 minutes later because serum team noticed his post)

(yeah ok so I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong about what he was implying, but given that many others didn't interpret it that way maybe it would have been best just to let it slide :P)

oh, thats how i interpreted it to be fair, but i didnt think that was a big deal or anything in particular (like its still real volume / trades)

Yeah same. Bots for bootstrapping liquidity isn’t really an aggressive accusation. He’s saying there aren’t any users, not that there’s some sort of criminal fraud happening.

What Cyrus said. He tweets about how trades haven't resumed, 6 minutes later they do, why wouldn't he make fun of that?

What was the real timeline of events here? Was literally 0 human intervention required (beyond fixing Solana), and this was a pure coincidence?
2
er it definitely wasn't related to his tweet!
there are likely various people with automated trading systems that are trading on Serum, I'm not sure exactly what processes are involved there
1
Well then it's quite a coincidence and I don't blame him for being skeptical about it.

he's blocked me on twitter, not sure how I would have seen it right then :P

I suppose ideally "Serum got fixed" wouldn't immediately bring to mind "But how could that happen if Sam didn't see the tweet?"
1
I guess I'm still a bit confused on whether you think he was saying that serum has some people using API-like trading, or specifically that it was the same party trading with themselves to fake trading volume?
Probably the latter. Loads of exchanges (not to name any countries...) have been caught doing this I wouldn't get too worked up about the accusation
