4) Each has their own weird idiosyncrasies. This is why you get people arguing over what latency is: are you measuring a-f? a-c? d-f? This also means that there are lots of ways things could go wrong.

I've always hammered this point with my students around SLAs or KPIs. "Load time" of a site - does it mean time to: -server response -first load -full render -round trip -etc Doesn't matter which metric you choose, just matters the customer is on the same page.
