calls you up and says you get to be the CEO of FTX
What do you do day 1, month 1, and year 1, to get FTX to the number one spot?

I admire your conviction...
I'd just say realistically from my point of view a tough mountain to climb. I like the leadership though and so wish them well.

I think it comes to influencing people. It's really hard. You need to have 10 times more value, 1 tenth the cost, and make it the easiest thing possible. FTX/Serum has tech, I agree. But not the ease of transition, big bottleneck, and the marketing is not being done right IMO.
As an engineer at heart, I can appreciate this. But the reality is that it is probably more like 70/30 marketing/tech. Tesla and Elon is perhaps the best example of this and so it's ironic I think that you mentioned them. He is a marketing wizard. People don't get this.
I'd be interested in your thoughts on what would work for marketing!
For what it's worth, my experience has been that:
a) some people really know what they're doing on it
b) many people don't but think they can identify it
c) in fact most people misidentify it
Started from a foundation of authenticity. Then you iterate iterate iterate with customers. Do things that don't scale. Like 1-1 convos with users to get to the truth of what is missing and what people want. And then you have your brand, your crystal clear purpose and customer

totally agree with that -- surveys can tell you something but often it's super unclear what is really bothering people until you dig in deeply to a few examples
Yes I just had this experience with a member of our Trade the Chain community, we hopped on a Zoom call. The feedback I got was priceless. Never would have gotten this by being lazy and posting a poll or survey. Those help, but this was 💯
Following up - if you seriously wanted some more ideas to brainstorm I'd be willing to help, I know you want to do good things, so I'm behind that. http://westonnelson.com - my Calendly link is embedded at bottom - book anytime, it's free, I don't need anything in return. Cheers!
