I'm curious whether if I hold these assets, am I holding a crypto token (backed by a stock) or the stock itself? Might make quite a difference for tax!

That's a good question!
You're holding a token which gives ownership rights to the stock and is redeemable for it. I think it's somewhere in between those two answers, really.
