Why would anyone provide liquidity for that? Just moving ETH over to the eth2 chain has zero profit.

Only if you're staking. And as soon as you stop staking some ETH, you can't use that ETH to stake again until it becomes unfrozen in the merge.

agreed -- though my best guess is many people will stake and then want liquid staking derivatives.
Agreed. liquid staking derivatives is the way to go.
