context: cnn.com has been running very anti-Trump-handling-of-COVID headlines. I'm guessing they see themselves as responding to scientific consensus rather than political middleground. (Though, of course, science by default answers what is not what should be.)

I write for which is supposed to provide unbiased news. It's really really tough because even if you report just the facts, the bias is revealed in the stories I and others choose to write about, even if the content of those stories is as objective as possible.

None of the above. The average of anything will be biased, just differently biased depending on which average you choose. For anything except op-eds, it should present all facts and arguments without attempting to draw conclusions or an "average".

Tbf media is complete fucked right now. It works purely based of audience and pushes narrative that audience wants. Otherwise people will switch to the media which does it. And it won’t unfuck, because audience is reason fpr bias and polarization in the first place ...
