Are the current ERC20 tokens replicated in just vanilla wrapped tokens minted on with the underlying custodied by ?
If yes, are there protections in place to keep in check? Or are such protections planned?

As in, there are a bunch more bridges coming soon
But at this time it's accurate to say that they are "wrapped tokens minted on with the underlying custodied by " as in OP?
