Jumps transition into DEFI is a big deal, it means internally a large structured traditional shop was able to get to a legal and compliance comfort to interface these type of platforms which hasn't happen at this size yet

Not only ETH, but if the first step to just try to validate/follow what is going on, is to do KYC - it's not DEFI.

This is not true though I understand why you'd think so, the website is confusing :) Anyone can be a validator/node/BP on Solana. The site is referencing that inflation-based rewards aren't live yet and you need to KYC if you want the foundation to give you supplementary ones.
