i get fees from market making. what i don't quite get is who does the borrowing on dy/dx, aave, compound etc. and what are they using the funds for?
in real economy u take out a loan and buy something with it (house, car, machinery etc.) which produces economic growth.

borrowers on these defi platforms don't seem to produce economic growth. they seem to borrow and lend again to exploit inefficiencies between lending & borrowing rates or borrow to buy shitcoins so that the borrowing feeds into itself. it's all artificially propped up though.

yeah it's all pretty weird
1) yeah there's no revenue or fees, just taker/maker offset, quite a cute trick though of them to try to slip that one in :P
2) it's all part of the path to yield farm
