Eventually a L1 will saturate. Only way to increase throughput is to use L2 solutions. Even if you have a L1 chain that can do 10M txs second, it will just delay the moment it will saturate and you'll have to move to L2.

Why it happens? If L1 is fast and cheap people will think they can use it for anything: storage, gambling, sending money, selling horses and sheeps. Then you'll need anyway L2 solutions to break bottlenecks. It's just a function of time and success

Indeed there is a huge difference.
My point is just that if a L1 is super-successful eventually will saturate so I would be preemptive building a L2.

Oh yeah totally agree with that :)
Similarly I think sharding can be super cool but that it's way worse than not sharding controlling for tps, so you want to take the fastest things and shard those.

I think we can live with 10M based on the current demand.

Note that when I've said 10M it was purely hypothetical.
Hard to get that throughput today on a L1.
