Layer 2s are really cool. But they also rely on the layer 1 for core functions. Rather than compromise on functionality, just build on the layer 1 that works; you can use rollups between it and ETH like you can with layer2's.

Hey Sam, I don’t agree that. The only downside for L2 now are deposit and withdraw. But once you are on L2 fast line. All transfers will be free and instant for now!

Tbh feels like you’re just building a better binance dex - great endeavor, but arguable not DeFi considering trust assumptions of an L1 that’s controlled by a small number of investors

FWIW the validators on Solana are about as diversified as the miners on ETH: solanabeach.io/#/validators etherchain.org/charts/topMine Now, sure, ETH2.0 might be different! But it's also years away, and Solana has those years to massively grow out its validator base.

if a layer 1 rolls up to ETH then it is by definition a layer 2? $SRM is effectively a layer 2?

$SRM is sorta a layer 2? Really it's not a chain, it's an ecosystem. Solana is a layer 1 which can stand on its own. And really what I mean is that you can use OR to interact between chains without either being dependent on the other.
