The biggest danger in trading $SOL isn't the 2021 token dump, it's the potential inflation in the coming months.

stated in a recent report they can issue 8M tokens max PER MONTH. In a recent report they announced they will release 7M for fundraising. Aka dump on public.

If I had to guess, I'd guess that most of those SOL tokens have a long-term lockup.

Only, I check the explorer daily, and those 7M they mentioned haven't actually been released in July. That's why I assumed that sudden 2.2M was part of it. But you correctly pointed out they are being staked.
